The role of quotations
In the third issue called: A way with Words, or away with words: Effect of texting and IMing on Language of Arak Anthology, the author uses a lot of quotations and paraphrase to make his essay more reliable and more convincible.
There is one example of quotation in this essay. In the fourth paragraph, the author quotes a sentence from the booked called: Linguistic Ruin? LOL! Instant messaging and teen language, which is written by Sali A Tagliamonte and Derek Denis. This sentence is to illustrate that people often use abbreviations and short forms to text messages, but the fact is these forms are far from the truth and may confuse people in some way. The writer chose to quote this sentence here was to use some data to convince people and make his opinion easier for readers to understand. This quotation shows the idea that the author wants to show us, that is there are some drawbacks if you text someone in abbreviation forms.
The example of paraphrase in this essay is in the beginning of the tenth paragraph. The author quotes the “Gr8 Txtpectations: The creativity of Text Spelling.”, which is written by Tim Shortis. This quotation begins a new idea about whether should we text in non-standard spelling. The author quotes this source here because he wants to begin the topic about the poetic examples, which is also a kind of non-standard English, had been widely-used.

The signing of the treaty deepened the semi-colonial society of China; it had also made an important turning point of China’s modern national consciousness.
As a loser, China didn’t look back to Correct deficiencies made by the government. On the Contrary, China was becoming worth and worth. More wars happened and more unequal treaties were signed. Chinese just thought they got the ability to win other countries.
Few decades of years passed, Historians finally began to analysis the mistake. First, there were no ability to foreseen there will be some dangerous, and we must always prepare for the worst. Blog Assignment #4
That’s why I can totally understand that why Liu need to make friends with other Chinese, because only Chinese share the same culture. Although I have some American friends who are very friendly and warm-hearted, we have totally different thought towards love, friendships, and family. We hardly ever share our worries because we know that we will have different way to deal with the problems. And we are not together for all days. But in China, friends always be together, share their annoyance and happiness, help each other to solve their worries.
For my first three days in the US this time, I felt so in need of Chinese friends so I won’t try to figure out how I can describe the problem. I don’t believe I can describe the problems exactly. If there is someone who has the same culture background as me, I will feel like home. It’s like brotherly love.
When people are in another country, they will become more united because they all come from one country, and this country is their home.

Blog Assignment 3
There are masses of ways to communicate each other, and there are a lot of discrepancy between countries and counties.
For example, the "body bubbles".
In my country, China, usually we don’t care about distance we should keep. There was a story happened to my friend. When she first time came to US, she met a couple with a little baby in the baby-stroller. Sometimes when we think a little kid is very cute, we will touch his or her face and say, ”How cute you are!” So my friends just touch the baby’s face and commend the baby’s out-looking. Then the parent looked at her unhappily. My friend was totally confused. As time goes by, she realized that that action is very impolite to someone you don’t know.
That is the big difference between the United States and China.
There is also another difference. The first time I came to the United States in Phoenix, Arizona, Everyone was smiling to me, even if we never met before and probably won’t meet. But in China, every people who walk on the road will show a porker face to others. If you smile to everyone, they may think you are a freak.
Every country has its own culture and own custom.
If you are scared of someone, you are not dare to look his or her eyes directly. That’s the common rule in both China and the United States. Liars may worry about if people can read their secrets. So if you talk to some people but do not look in their eyes, they may think you are impolite, you are unconfident, or you are a liar.
In conclusion, body language is one of the most ways to communicate people. Even a small gesture can cause a big conflict.
